An Arizona teacher convicted of sexually abusing a year-old student will spend the next 20 years behind bars. Zamora, a former teacher at Las Brisas Academy, tearfully apologized to the victim and his family during the sentencing hearing. He told his stepmother that he had sexual contact with his sixth-grade teacher.
The Arizona Republic now reports that Zamora is facing up to 30 years in prison for molestin g the teenager. Court documents indicate that, though she was originally charged with 15 counts, a plea deal resulted in twelve charges getting dismissed. The first charge, the most serious of the three, carries a minimum sentence of 13 years and a maximum of 27, though she is expected to receive 20 years. The second charge attempted molestation of a minor yields a five to 15 year sentence, and it is presumed she will get 10 years.
